Published in Paperback by Dover Pubns (January, 1990)
Average review score:

Pretty GoodI thought that this book was helpful to the research that I was doing. It had a lot of helpful hints on how to contruct hand puppets (although it did go into other types of puppetry) I also liked the fact that on Amazon is was so inexpensive. I would recomend this book to anyone who wanted to learn how to start their ouppet collection, or to any beggining puppeteers. this is a good book for younger children because it is easy to understand.

Ingres Portrait Drawings: 44 Works (Dover Art Library)
Published in Paperback by Dover Pubns (August, 1993)
Average review score:

Classical portraiture at its bestIf you have the slightest interest in portraiture and/or classical art, this inexpensive book , along with others in the Dover art Library series, is a must for your collection. Ingres is arguably one of the greatest portraitist ever and the reproductions in this book are a testament to that. Unlike the works of many of his contemporaries , "Romanticists", Ingres was a Classicist in the strictest sense of the word, as evident in these drawings and especially in his paintings. Although i am more an admirer of the style of such painters as Sargent, whose looser approach is the anthisesis of Ingres' careful, detailed, deliberate, yet graceful style, i still enjoyed studying these masterpieces in this book of drawings.

Introduction to Crystallography (Dover Classics of Science and Mathematics)
Published in Paperback by Dover Pubns (January, 1994)
Average review score:

A great book for beginners !This book is definitely a good starting point to learn Crystallography. As a matter of fact the title is in my opinion a little misleading since the book really introduces the reader to X-ray Crystallography... The book starts with a concise yet elementary discussion of crystal lattices, point groups and space groups. The chapters are nicely woven together so that the reader easily develops a sense of continuity as the the concepts are introduced. Principles of diffraction phenomena and determination of atomic positions are very densely discussed. However the treatment is "crystal" clear and no vital details are ignored for the sake of "simplicity". The overall treatment is very elementary and requires an extremely modest amount of mathematical background. Fourier series a briefly introduced in the discussion of electron density and structure factors in an effective manner. The effect of glide planes and screw axes on the structure factor (systematic absences) are elegantly described in the examples. I wish D. Sands would have written an longer book and have included more material in structure determination as well as powder diffractometry itself (that's why the books is rated 4 stars only). He certainly has the ability to effectively get the points across throughout his book in a elegant fashion making the book easily readable. The book is ideally suited for those who would like to make their first steps into X-ray crystallography. In addition, the price is so right (as is the case with all Dover Series) you can not go wrong. I highly recommend it.

Islamic Designs for Artists and Craftspeople (Dover Pictorial Archive)
Published in Paperback by Dover Pubns (December, 1988)
Average review score:

An excellant source for Arabic designs!Ms. Wilson presents various elements of Arabic designs drawn mostly in black and white. She includes instruction for reproducing the designs and commentary on time periods and original colors used. The only thing that would have made this book better would have been pictures of the artifacts she refers to in her extensive documentation. A must have for anyone doing Islamic or Arabic arts!

Jewish Fairy Tales (Dover Children's Thrift Classics)
Published in Paperback by Dover Pubns (December, 1997)
Average review score:

a very nice collectionI was very pleasantly surprised by this little book. IT is a lovely collection of traditional Jewish folk tales. I bought it for a little gift for a child, expecting it to be aimed for little kids (based on the number of pages and the fact that it is in the Dover children's collection). I really enjoyed reading the stories myself. I found them very thought provoking. I especially liked the first story in the book about the poor man who wants to bring an offering for the temple in Jerusalem. I found it really beautiful. The child I intended the book for, also enjoyed it very much and I wound up buying a second copy for them so that I could keep this one myself.

Lapses in Mathematical Reasoning (Dover Books on Mathematics)
Published in Paperback by Dover Pubns (January, 2000)
Average review score:

very entertainingThere are many very interesting problems in this book. The author presents erroneous proofs of false results and they key is to find the error in the proof. Some are very easy and some are quite difficult. I give it 4 stars because some of the errors in the proofs are really superficial and are either obvious or uninteresting. It is worth a look, though.

Left-Handed Sewing (Dover Books on Needlepoint, Embroidery)
Published in Paperback by Dover Pubns (February, 1994)
Average review score:

My first book towards helping left-handers learn to sewYears ago I decided I needed to help left-handers learn the basic sewing stitches. This book includes all the stitches necessary to sew anything. Great gift for beginners/ children/ or one who has sewn for years but always struggles with left vs. right. Make someone happy by giving this as a gift.
